Leaf plate

I started this piece by inlaying maple "leaves" into 1/8" piece of walnut burl, woodburning the veins and stem markings. Then I turned the burl into a disc.

I prepared a platter and turned a recess to fit the burl disc, then glued it into place and inlaid a ring of ebony stringing around it.

Finally, I finished the piece with drying oil and wax.
