Atop the wine rack

My wife rebuilt a wrought iron wine rack and asked me to make a tabletop for it.

I turned the 21" top from MDF, then veneered both sides. The top veneer is curly maple. I fashioned a segmented mahogany rim, and inlaid ebony stringing in a ring to separate the ring from the center. The edging is a segmented rim of ebony.

I finished the top with varnish to protect against alcohol and water spills.
