My cup runneth over |
This piece brings together my interests in turning and metalworking.
I turned the cup as a bowl with a low-drooping rim, then cut away most of the rim to leave the handle.
I textured the handle and outside of the bowl, then dyed the inside and outside with yellow and orange NGR dyes, before finishing the bowl with Watco and wax.
I forged the base from mild steel strip, slitting and tapering the tines which support the bowl. I colored the base with a torch (those are the tempering colors), then oiled and waxed it to protect it from rust.
